UPDATES: Orion Camp 2012

Today we reveal a little more of one of Orion’s most anticipated events. That’s right, it is our first ever Orion Camp!

Orion Camp is a new initiative and our Programmes Subcommittee has been busy planning the camp’s nitty gritty details. As mentioned in an earlier post, Orion Camp will be scheduled to be held right after recruitment to allow our members to socialise and get to know each other before working together on the various fund-raising activities over the semester.

The 3-day camp will be filled with fun, bonding activities and includes an awesome day out at Sentosa. Also, do look forward to the finale night that was overheard to have been described as legendary.

The team is gearing up for more intensive planning as Programmes Subcommittee Advisor, Vionna, has returned from her overseas exchange. More information about Orion Camp will be announced here as they are made available so stay tuned for more news!

Orion Alumni Network

Hi all!

Remember the Orion Alumni Network(OAN) that I briefly mentioned in a post before? Well, plans have been firmed up a little since then and the OAN, headed by our very own Project Director and Vice Project Director of Orion’11, is starting to take root.

The OAN is basically a network that allows Orion members of the past, present and future to get together, so that we can continue on the friendships and family ties borne through Orion.

Since we are building up the OAN from scratch, there are a number of fundamental issues we have to iron out before we start, such as the direction of the OAN and its purpose. Thus, there is going to be a series of OAN meetings for its committee members starting very soon.

With this initiative, I’m sure that the Orion members will be able to get together, have fun and relive our Orion journey more frequently, keeping the Orion spirit alive no matter how many years have passed 🙂

Not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4

Yes! A total of four of our Orion members attended the safety workshop conducted by Office of Student Affairs(OSA). This is because we put the safety of our fellow Orion mates as our utmost priority. Our Project Director (P.D), Choon Keat, along with Vice P.D and the two programs head went for a four-hour long workshop on the 12th June 2012. The workshop ” Safety & Crisis Planning & Management Workshop”  created a greater awareness of safety and allows our leaders to plan and execute challenging activities safely.

Rest assure we will put your safety as our priority during our construction at ChiangMai this year end.

F-F-Fundraising Update!

Good day folks! Yet again for another round of updates, and today we focus on what Fundraising has in store for us.

To raise funds for our expedition, Operation Orion will be holding booth sales in the Engineering, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science faculties over the semester. We will be selling our Pledge Your Love donation cards, our Chocolate Packs, the Orion T-shirts, and the new Orion badges, which are a new item that the Fundraising committee has added to the list of Orion merchandise.

And since NUS students cannot seem to get enough of bubble tea, we have also confirmed that bubble tea will definitely be sold at every of our booth sales days.

Next on our Fundraising programs list, we will be having an Orion Newspaper Collection Drive! It will likely take place twice during the semester break, though specific dates have not been released yet, and will replace last year’s Orion Car Wash fundraising program.

Lastly, there will also be the annual Operation Orion Bazaar 2012 in week 6 of the semester so watch out closely that week for the ever popular Milo Van!

We do not, however, have many details today so here is a shot of this year’s Fundraising Subcommittee Head dressed as our Orion 2011 Mascot at last year’s bazaar.

Word is that the Mascot will be making a comeback this bazaar with an all-new look and theme. To find out how it turns out, stay tuned for more news! =P
