The objective of Operation Orion 2009 is to help Mount Hope Training Center improve its infrastructure that will ultimately benefit the needy community.
Mount Hope Training Center is a foundation established in 1998 to help the poor amongst the Dayak Tribal Peoples, both practically and spiritually. The focus is to train young people in a comprehensive manner. The vision for the project includes: A children’s home, kindergarten, primary school, high school, medical clinic, Bible school, hospital and university. Alongside these, the project aims to become as self sufficient as possible and has vegetable and fruit gardens, a fish farm and a bakery.
In order to turn the vision into reality, the building of more facilities is on-going. Operation Orion 2009 will thus take up this opportunity to help the development of the center. After discussed with the person in charge of the center, Malcolm Balysis, proposed to our team to build a new bakery for the center. The additional bakery will provide job opportunities to the community as well as funds the operation cost of the training center. There are also other options such as building of children home, expand the existing school for more classroom etc.
The discussion of the project is still on-going and will be finalized after the scheduled recce trip in end of September.
