Lee Foundation is a philanthropic foundation in Singapore to support the advancement of education, medicine and cultural activities; helping the poor; and assisting victims of fire, flood and famine. It was founded in 1952 by philanthropist and businessman, Lee Kong Chian and has funded many philanthropic causes. Indicative of Lee’s commitment to higher learning was the honorary degree he received from the University of Malaya in 1958.
The Youth Expedition Project (YEP) was launched by then Deputy Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, in 2000. Currently, YEP is administered by the National Youth Council (NYC). Being the key youth development programme of NYC, YEP encourages volunteerism among youth to embark on community Service-Learning projects. The objectives of YEP are to nurture confident youth volunteers, who are socially responsible and active citizens, who can identify needs and contribute to the local and international community.
