Destination Decided!
Hi everyone! Apologies for the lack of updates, but with everyone caught up in the whirlwind of exams, it was not until recently that the team finally got back on track. The team had our third meeting on Thursday and guess what, we finally confirmed our destination for Operation Orion 2013! It is none other than Ban Nam Tong Primary School in Laos! The project is to build a new school compound so that the kids can have a safe and clean learning environment.
Below are some photos of the school’s current condition:
As can seen from the photos, the school is in a rather dilapidated state, making it a dangerous learning environment for the students. Moreover, due to the lack of proper classrooms and facilities, many kids in the village are unable to attend school and get a basic education. Through this project, Operation Orion hopes to create a safe learning environment that is large enough to accommodate all the kids from the village, giving them an education that many in Singapore simply take for granted.
Building a school compound with proper facilities and infrastructure strong enough to last for years to come requires a large number of kindhearted volunteers and huge sum of funds. As such, this project requires the tremendous support from all of you! Do check the website regularly for more updates on our upcoming participation in the Matriculation Fair and recruitment drive in August. Do support us when our fundraising activities starts in August too!
