Overseas Trip Updates!
Hi Everyone!
It’s been some time since we’ve been back, but the holidays do make one lazy 😛 But now, with all the photos sorted, it’s finally time for a sizzling update!
As mentioned before, we went to the Bokeo province in Laos to build a school for the Ban Nam Tong Primary School. It was an arduous journey involving all modes of transportation as the members braved through air, sea and land transports to reach the village. Nevertheless, despite the difficulties, the members managed to remain happy and energetic throughout the journey.
When we arrived, we were immensely touched by the villagers’ hospitality. Not only were we greeted with smiles wherever we go, the villagers also made such a great effort to make us feel at home. With the villagers’ support, the members were able to face the daily challenges with vitality and cheer.
Not only did we paint the walls of the schools…
Made a net for the goal post…
The members also get to experience brick laying for themselves as they helped to build a library for the school!
On top of that, the members also got to have memorable interactions with the kids.
We had fun games…
Wonderful art and craft sessions…
And the making of the banner for the kids back in Singapore!
Yet even the best of times will come to an end. Soon we have reached the end of our stay at the village. Before we left, the villagers threw a grand farewell party for us. To show our appreciation, we also performed our cultural dances, sub-committee dances and mass dance.
Here’s a sneak peak of us practicing the mass dance 🙂
Take a look at the feast laid out!
And the children from the primary school performed for us as well!
Finally, after all the parties had been thrown and the farewells had been said, it is time for us to leave the village. As a memento of the times spent, everyone took a final picture together.
As we come to an end of Operation Orion 2013, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the following sponsors and partners. The project will never have come to fruition without your immense support:
