Hope you got to know us a little more, and we hope to see you at our Karang Guni Collection Day on 7th December 2014! Details of the mentioned event can be found in the previous post!
The committee and some of the Orion Alumni have gathered on 22nd September, 2014, at Yew Tee District to collect recyclables, such as newspapers and old clothes, as part of our fundraising efforts.
This is just a small fraction of what we have collected that day!
We managed to collect literally truck-loads of recyclables, despite having limited manpower. Here is a photo of some of us getting a chance to rest at the back of the newspaper-loaded lorry, after a long day of door-to-door collection!
It sure was an exhausting day, but it was also very fulfilling as all our efforts translated into a huge accomplishment.
Hence, to raise more funds for our Overseas Community Involvement Program (OCIP), we are organizing another Karang Guni Collection Day on 7th December, 2014!!!
We would be revisiting the welcoming Yew Tee district to do door-to-door collection of recyclables from the residents; and this time round, we are hoping to reach out to more volunteers to assist us in the collection and classification of recyclables. Volunteer recruitment will be extended to the overall school community! CIP hours will be awarded.
Below is a summary of the event:
Event: Karang Guni Collection Day
Date: 7th December 2014
Time: 9am – 6pm
Venue: Yew Tee District
Number of CIP hours awarded: 9 hours

Operation Orion 2014
Once again, after the overseas trip is the much anticipated Orion Appreciation Dinner! Organised by the Orion Alumni Network (OAN), the dinner was held on last Friday with Orion members of various years gathering together for a night of fun, reminiscence and sharing. To start the night off, videos featuring what Operation Orion 2013 had done was shown. As the members shared laughter over the fond memories of 2013, the initial awkwardness between members of various years melted as well.
Here’s one of the videos shown!
In addition, the team also took this opportunity to thank the main committee Operation Orion 2013 and the founders of Orion Alumni Network for their hard work. There was even an award ceremony held in honor of them!

And of course, what is a gathering without photos and more photos! We can’t possibly post all of the photos here, but here’s a beautiful shot of the Orion members from all the different batches.
The night came to an end on a joyous note of celebration. Yet this is definitely not the end of the Orion journey. As Operation Orion continues to grow, we hope that you will continue to support us in our future endeavors.
