Local CIP and Karang Guni Collection

Hi all!

Its been a long time since we last updated (kneels down and ask for your forgiveness) but that also means we have doubly the joy to share with you guys! We had completed both our local CIP and Karang Guni Collection over the last month and we are now ready to share some juicy news with you guys!

First off will be the local CIP. As all of you know, Operation Orion always tries to incorporate our overseas activities back to the local community. This year we are collaborating with the Care Corner Student Care Centre in Marsiling Primary School as part of our efforts to bring the children of both the local community and the Laotian community closer together.

What better ways to kick start the day than with some energetic games to rid ourselves of the sleeping bug? The programs team soon had everyone warmed up with action packed games.

And of course, what do we need most in the morning? Stretching to warm up the body for the day!

On top of games, we also had a mini session where we introduce some of the interesting facts and culture of Laos to the children. We even had a mini quiz to help the children remember the newly learned knowledge better!

Last but not least, to foster the friendly ties between the two communities we had the children make some gifts for their friends in Laos. Beautiful friendship bands tied with well wishes for the Laotian kids were made with care, while a large banner consisting of the hand prints of everyone were made to express the friendliness of the local community.

That marks the end of the local CIP, but wait, that’s not all!

Right after the local CIP is the Karang Guni Collection! For those who are unfamiliar with the event, this is the time when Orion members will collect recyclables such as old clothes and newspapers from residents as part of our fundraising efforts. This year, we return to the Yew Tee district and the residents were as welcoming as last year! Thank you all of you nice folks in Yew Tee for the continual support over the two consecutive years. OPERATION ORION’S HAVING A BAZAAR!

As part of our fundraising efforts, we will be having a bazaar at the science faculty. Not only will you get to see our lovable members in action (if you haven’t been visiting our booth as diligently as you should), tons of vendors selling a variety of merchandise will be there ready to wow you breathless too!

Operation Orion’s Starting Booth Sales!

Hi everyone,

OPERATION ORION’S STARTING BOOTH SALES!

As part of our fundraising efforts, we will be setting up booths every Tuesdays and Fridays at various locations over the course of the school semester. Locations include the tables outside LT6 (Engineering faculty), at the Faculty of Science and Central Library. Merchandises to be sold include candies from LollyTalk, customized key-chains and Pledge Your Love cards!

In addition, the book Stateless: Diary of a Spirited Boy at Napho Camp by author Sanva Saephan will also be available at the booth. Profits earned goes to the building of the school compound.
